Fattoria Poggio Allora
Our base, Fattoria Poggio Allora, is a classic agriturismo nestled in the rolling hills of Tuscany, with a backdrop of the medieval city of San Gimignano.
Agriturismo is a combination of the Italian words agricoltura (agriculture) and turismo (tourism).
An agriturismo is a rustic farm that hosts guests on their land where they raise animals, grow produce and serve meals in a central restaurant.
We'll enjoy hearty breakfasts every morning here, and some special dinners.
With time to take in the countryside vistas, relax at the pool, enjoy a cooking class, and tour their vineyard - we'll take advantage of everything offered here!
Cinciano
Our first winery is Cinciano, located in an ancient village in Poggibonsi, Chianti. The Cinciano winery will welcome us with their Experience Pro tasting and lunch.
It's own agriturismo, Cinciano is an award winning property committed to sustainability and promoting practices that protect the environment and respect partnerships in their supply chain.
Petra Wine
Futuristic architecture meets old world landscape at Petra Wine. Designed by world famous Swiss architect Mario Botta, clean, defined lines project from hills overlooking their lush vineyard in Suvereto.
Our tasting is custom designed for a very memorable experience.
Poggio Antico
Poggio Antico, located in Montalcino, offers award-winning examples of world famous Brunellos.
Our tour will provide breathtaking views of the highest point in the entire region and of the Tyrrhenian Sea, with a very generous tasting of these wines that made the region famous.
Chioccioli Altadonna
Back in Chianti, we'll experience both fantastic wines and spirits at the only Distillery in the region - why shouldn't Italy produce internationally esteemed spirits too!
This futuristic vision is what sets apart the Chioccioli Winestillery where we'll taste it all in their Grape to Glass Manifesto style.
There's no need to worry about free time!
Most days we'll enjoy some time on our own at our agriturismo or in these lovely locales.
You'll receive a packet with geographic information about each city with suggestions for what to see and where to eat.
The time will be all yours to soak in beautiful medieval architecture and local life.
Siena
On the top of every traveler's list in Tuscany is the city of Siena, often referred to as Italy's medieval heart and soul.
After our tasting at Cinciano, our driver will take us to Siena for the afternoon to explore where we'll then gather for a lovely al fresco dinner, weather permitting.
San Gimignano
The town our agritourismo overlooks, San Gimignano is known for its medieval towers and breathtaking views.
We'll enjoy an afternoon on our own and dinner together in this perfectly preserved walled city.
Montepulciano
After our tasting at Poggio Antico, we'll head to Montepulciano for the afternoon and dinner.
The city sits atop a hill overlooking the beautiful Val d’Orcia and Val di Chiana valleys that surround it. Full of elegant Renaissance palaces, ancient churches, and charming squares, a stroll through Montepulciano lets you experience it all.
Chianti
Prior to our tasting at Chioccioli Altadonna, we'll have time on our own in Chianti. Specifically, we'll be in Chianti Classico, one of the 7 sub-regions that comprises Chianti.
*Please note we have 8 spots total for the Cinque Terre post trip experience, first come first served. Register soon!
Il Parco B&B
For those guests continuing on to the Cinque Terre, we'll be based in Monterosso al Mare, the most northern of the five towns.
Situated above the town overlooking the ocean is the lovely Il Parco B&B where we'll spend our nights.
Il Parco offers easy access to the town with a short hike down to the water, and to the train station that runs to each of the charming, picturesque towns.
Things To Do
The itinerary is light on details, on purpose! After all of our fabulous wining and dining in Tuscany, our time in the Cinque Terre (five lands) will be whatever you want it to be.
We are organizing optional dinners, likewise the fabulous breakfasts at Il Parco, our B&B, are also optional so you can maximize your days as you desire.
The Cinque Terre, designated a National Park in 1999, is comprised of five little fishing villages. You can read details about each town here.
The total distance between them is 25km, making travel very quick and easy by train. We will provide day passes so you can easily hop on and off.
For the more adventurous, a walk between towns has several options: at the water level or in the mountains, each with their own breathtaking scenery.
You can also travel between towns by boat if you choose!
Branching out further, between 1.5 -3 hours is a train ride to any of these cities: Pisa, Reggio Emilia, Parma, and Modena.
We encourage you to deeply explore this fantastically beautiful, remote area of Italy.
